With 3.5 million NGOs in India, Foundations like Inspirasia face a complex landscape for choosing partners. In India, Inspirasia draws on the experience and expertise of Dasra, India's leading strategic philanthropy foundation. Dasra works with philanthropists and successful social entrepreneurs bringing knowledge, funding, and people together as a catalyst for social change.
Dasra supported Inspirasia to choose and monitor our first five projects in India. Inspirasia also collaborates with Dasra to focus our strategic philanthropy goals globally.
The Community Outreach Programme (CORP) motto, “Give a man a fish and he will live for a day -- teach him to fish and he will live a lifetime”, underpins CORP’s operations and vision for the future. CORP facilitates the growth of fully functioning and socially responsible communities within several major slums of Mumbai, India. Established in 1977 with just one centre and a handful of employees in Dharavi, Asia’s largest slum, CORP has grown into an organization of 20 centres and more than 70 employees touching approximately 30,000 women and children in Mumbai every year. CORP centres provide essential services like education, basic healthcare, nutrition, and job training to the slum community, enabling Indians living in slums to pull themselves out of poverty and join the growing Indian middle class.
