In December 2004, Mark Weingard was celebrating Christmas with friends in his villa on Natai Beach, when the destructive Boxing Day tsunami hit. Luckily none of Mark’s party were injured, but the tsunami caused havoc throughout the region and claimed the lives of thousands of people.

Mark immediately joined the disaster relief efforts and Inspirasia Foundation started supporting local organisations that were helping those affected by the tsunami. Today, we continue to support organisations in health and education around Phuket and Phang Nga.

With the opening of Iniala Beach House in 2013, Inspirasia is now able to work with the executive team of Iniala to make a greater social impact. Philanthropy is the pulse of Iniala with 10% of room revenues and 5% of other revenues going directly to Inspirasia Foundation.
