Ela gets a job at Courtyard by Mariott Bali Nusa Dua Resort thanks to DNetwork

Ela Rosa Lay is a Deaf user of DNetwork, one of our grantees in Bali that connects people with disabilities to employment. She was very enthusiastic when she was offered a job as a Laundry Attendant at the Courtyard by Mariott Bali Nusa Dua Resort.

This all started when Ela applied to job vacancies posted by DNetwork on social media, because she has laundry skills and had completed laundry training at a hotel. After going through the interview process, Ela was hired at the Courtyard Resort. She explained that she didn't encounter any major difficulties in her job because she was used to ironing and doing laundry work using a washing machine.

She is going to make good use of this opportunity, as it has been very difficult for her to find a job. When working at Courtyard, she is very focused on her job and not easily distracted. When it comes to communicating with superiors and colleagues, Ela uses gestures or written communication so that she doesn't have difficulty understanding her colleagues’ instructions.
